... About the 'Whistle Stop' Cabin Accommodation
Unique heritage cottage or rainforest cabin accommodation in the Montville and Maleny Hinterland of Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The Whistle Stop is a self-catering cottage over 100 years old and was originally a Queenslander style railway station at nearby Beerburrum. George and Aldy Johnston have lovingly restored this important part of our local history and it now sits tucked in the rainforest 150 metres from the shore of Lake Baroon looking over its own private lawns and gardens.
The Whistle Stop nestles in its own little oasis of paradise. The small creek babbles merrily beneath the wooden bridge that leads you to your cabin. You can rest in your bush spa and soak up the sounds of nature... rainforest birds chatter, the native wildlife visits and a waterfall gurgles just metres from the spa house after lots of rain. The Whistle Stop is a magical and refreshing escape from the day to day humdrum of the modern world.
The Whistle Stop has recently had
a complete revamp with the introduction of some beautiful
carved cedar furniture and cosy cottage decor... but
we have been careful to keep its old-style charm with
traditional antique furniture and lace. It is fully self contained
featuring log fire, federation style leather lounges, reverse cycle air-conditioning,
double spa under cover in the rainforest, two BBQ entertaining
areas, satellite television and modern sound system.
Its in the perfect position as a base for the Sunshine
Coast Hinterland Great Walks - just metres from
the entrance to the walking trails.
The Whistle Stop can accommodate a couple, two couples or a family for short or longer holidays, romantic honeymoon getaways or weekend interludes. It is ideal for couples with a young familiy seeking an affordable weekend break or holiday.
